Housing costs continue to be a constraint to the housing market and this problem has been made worse by COVID 19 supply chain issues and inflation. As a result, housing is expensive and cannot keep up with demand.
The construction market is using methods 100 years old with little substantial innovation. In addition, the technology is simple. Just try to compare it to the complexity of current vehicles, or automated machines.
3d printers have been on the market for many years now and have been applied to a variety of processes. We propose applying them to home construction. Our idea is not novel, but as 3d home printers are not currently widely adopted in this field, we believe there is an opportunity, one that has the potential to lower construction costs and on a large societal scale may help address the housing crisis which is more extremely felt by marginalized populations, with homelessness being a serious current problem.
